ทิศ 6 (บุคคลประเภทตางๆ ที่เราตองเกี่ยวของสัมพันธทางสังคมดุจทิศที่อยูรอบตัว — Disà : directions; quarters)
1.ปุรัตถิมทิศ (ทิศเบื้องหนา คือ ทิศตะวันออก ไดแก มารดาบิดา เพราะเปนผูมีอุปการะแกเรามากอน — Puratthima-disà : parents as the east or the direction in front)
ก. บุตรธิดาพึงบํารุงมารดาบิดา ผูเป็นทิศเบื้องหนา ดังนี้
1) ทานเลี้ยงเรามาแลว เลี้ยงทานตอบ
2) ชวยทําการงานของทาน
3) ดํารงวงศสกุล
4) ประพฤติตนใหเหมาะสมกับความเปนทายาท
5) เมื่อทานลวงลับไปแลว ทําบุญอุทิศใหทาน
In five ways a child should minister to his parents as the eastern quarter (saying to himself):
a) Having been supported by them, I will support them in my turn.
b) I will do their work for them.
c) I will keep up the honour and the traditions of my family.
d) I will make myself worthy of my heritage.
e) I will make offerings, dedicating merit to them after their death.*
ข. บิดามารดาย่อมอนุเคราะห บุตรธิดา ดังนี้
1) หามปรามจากความชั่ว
2) ใหตั้งอยูในความดี
3) ใหศึกษาศิลปวิทยา
4) หาคูครองที่สมควรให
5) มอบทรัพยสมบัติใหในโอกาสอันสมควร

2.ทักษิณทิศ (ทิศเบื้องขวา คือ ทิศใต ไดแก ครู อาจารย เพราะเปนทักขิไณยบุคคลควรแกการ บูชาคุณ — Dakkhiõa-disà : teachers as the south or the direction in the right)
ก. ศิษย พึงบำรุงครูอาจารย  ผูเป็นทิศเบื้องขวา ดังนี้
1) ลุกตอนรับ
2) เขาไปหา (เพื่อบํารุง คอยรับใช ปรึกษา ซักถาม และรับคําแนะนํา เปนตน)*
3) ใฝใจเรียน (คือ มีใจรัก เรียนดวยศรัทธา และรูจักฟงใหเกิดปญญา)**
4) ปรนนิบัติ ชวยบริการ
5) เรียนศิลปวิทยาโดยเคารพ (คือ เอาจริงเอาจัง ถือเปนกิจสําคัญ)
In five ways a pupil should minister to his teachers as the southern quarter:
a) by rising to receive them.
b) by waiting upon them.
c) by eagerness to learn.
d) by personal service.
e) by attentively learning the arts and sciences.
ข. ครู อาจารย ยอมอนุเคราะห ศิษย ดังนี้้
1) ฝกฝนแนะนําใหเปนคนดี
2) สอนใหเขาใจแจมแจง
3) สอนศิลปวิทยาใหสิ้นเชิง
4) ยกยองใหปรากฏในหมูคณะ
5) สรางเครื่องคุมภัยในสารทิศ (สอนฝกใหรูจักเลี้ยงตัวรักษาตนในอันที่จะดําเนินชีวิตตอ ไปดวยดี รับรองความรูความประพฤติใหเปนที่ยอมรับในการไปประกอบอาชีพเปนอยู ไดดวยดี)
In five ways his teachers, thus served as the southern quarter, show their love for him:
a) They train him so that he is well-trained.
b) They teach him in such a way that he understands and remembers well what he has been taught.
c) They thoroughly instruct him in the lore of every art.
d) They introduce him to his friends and companions.
e) They provide for his safety and security in every quarter.
3.ปจฉิมทิศ (ทิศเบื้องหลัง คือ ทิศตะวันตก ไดแก บุตรภรรยา เพราะมีขึ้นภายหลังและคอย เปนกําลังสนับสนุนอยูขางหลัง — Pacchima-disà : wife and children as the west or the direction behind)
ก. สามี พึงบำรุงภรรยา ผู้เปนทิศเบื้องหลัง ดังนี้
1) ยกยองใหเกียรติสมกับฐานะที่เปนภรรยา
2) ไมดูหมิ่น
3) ไมนอกใจ
4) มอบความเปนใหญในงานบานให
5) หาเครื่องประดับมาใหเปนของขวัญตามโอกาส
In five ways a husband should serve his wife as the western quarter:
a) by honouring her.
b) by being courteous to her.
c) by being faithful to her.
d) by handing over authority to her.
e) by providing her with ornaments.
ข. ภรรยาย่อมอนุเคราะห์สามี ดังนี้
1) จัดงานบานใหเรียบรอย
2) สงเคราะหญาติมิตรทั้งสองฝายดวยดี
3) ไมนอกใจ
4) รักษาทรัพยสมบัติที่หามาได
5) ขยันไมเกียจครานในงานทั้งปวง
In five ways his wife, thus served as the western quarter, shows her love for him:
a) The household affairs are to be well managed.
b) She should be hospitable and helpful to friends and relations of both hers and his.
c) She should be faithful to him.
d) She should take care of the goods he brings home.
e) She should be skilful and industrious in all her duties.
4.อุตตรทิศ (ทิศเบื้องซาย คือ ทิศเหนือ ไดแก มิตรสหาย เพราะเปนผูชวยใหขามพนอุปสรรค ภัยอันตราย และเปนกําลังสนับสนุน ใหบรรลุความสําเร็จ — Uttara-disà : friends and companions as the north or the direction in the left)
ก. บุคคลพึงบํารงมิตรสหาย ผู้เปนทิศเบื้องซาย ดังนี้
1) เผื่อแผแบงปน
2) พูดจามีน้ำใจ
3) ชวยเหลือเกื้อกูลกัน
4) มีตนเสมอ รวมสุขรวมทุกขกัน
5) ซื่อสัตยจริงใจตอกัน
In five ways a clansman should serve his friends and associates as the northern quarter:
a) by generosity.
b) by kind words.
c) by helping them and acting for their welfare.
d) by putting them on equal terms.
e) by being sincere to them.
ข. มิตรสหายย่อมอนุ เคราะห์ตอบ ดังนี้
1) เมื่อเพื่อนประมาท ชวยรักษาปองกัน
2) เมื่อเพื่อนประมาท ชวยรักษาทรัพยสมบัติของเพื่อน
3) ในคราวมีภัย เปนที่พึ่งได
4) ไมละทิ้งในยามทุกขยาก
5) นับถือตลอดถึงวงศญาติของมิตร
In five ways his friends and associates, thus served as the northern quarter, show their love for him:
a) They protect him when he is careless.
b) They guard his property when he is careless.
c) They are a refuge for him when he is in danger.
d) They do not leave him in his troubles.
e) They show due respect to other members of his family.
5.เหฏฐิมทิศ (ทิศเบื้องลาง ไดแก คนรับใช และคนงาน เพราะเปนผูชวยทําการงานตางๆ เปนฐานกําลังให — Heññhima-disà : servants and workmen as the nadir)
ก. นายพึงบํารุงคนรับใช้ และคนงาน ผู้เป็นทิศเบื้องล่าง ดังนี้
1) จัดการงานใหทําตามความเหมาะสมกับกําลังความสามารถ
2) ใหคาจางรางวัลสมควรแกงานและความเปนอยู
3) จัดสวัสดิการดี มีชวยรักษาพยาบาลในยามเจ็บไข เปนตน
4) ไดของแปลกๆ พิเศษมา ก็แบงปนให
5) ใหมีวันหยุดและพักผอนหยอนใจตามโอกาสอันควร
In five ways a master should serve his servants and workmen as the lower quarter:
a) by assigning them work according to their strength.
b) by giving them due food and wages.
c) by caring for them in sickness.
d) by sharing with them unusual luxuries.
e) by giving them holidays and leave at suitable time.
ข. คนรับใช้ และคนงานย่อมอนุเคราะห  นาย ดังนี้
1) เริ่มทําการงานกอนนาย
2) เลิกงานทีหลังนาย
3) ถือเอาแตของที่นายให
4) ทําการงานใหเรียบรอยและดียิ่งขึ้น
5) นําเกียรติคุณของนายไปเผยแพร
In five ways his servants and workmen, thus served as the lower quarter, show their love for him:
a) They get up to work before him.
b) They go to rest after him.
c) They take only what is given to them.
d) They do their work well.
e) They spread about his praise and good name.
6.อุปริมทิศ (ทิศเบื้องบน ไดแก สมณพราหมณ์ คือ พระสงฆ์ เพราะเปนผูสูงดวยคุณธรรม และเปนผูนําทางจิตใจ — Uparima-disà : monks as the zenith)
ก. คฤหัสถ ยอมบำรุงพระสงฆ ผูเปนทิศเบื้องบน ดังนี้
1) จะทําสิ่งใด ก็ทําดวยเมตตา
2) จะพูดสิ่งใด ก็พูดดวยเมตตา
3) จะคิดสิ่งใด ก็คิดดวยเมตตา
4) ตอนรับดวยความเต็มใจ
5) อุปถัมภดวยปจจัย 4
In five ways a clansman should serve monks and Brahmins as the upper quarter:
a) by kindly acts.
b) by kindly words.
c) by kindly thoughts.
d) by keeping open house to them.
e) by supplying them with their material needs.
ข. พระสงฆ  ยอมอนุเคราะห  คฤหัสถ์ ดังนี้
1) หามปรามจากความชั่ว
2) ใหตั้งอยูในความดี
3) อนุเคราะหดวยความปรารถนาดี
4) ใหไดฟงสิ่งที่ยังไมเคยฟง
5) ทําสิ่งที่เคยฟงแลวใหแจมแจง
6) บอกทางสวรรค คือทางชีวิตที่มีความสุขความเจริญให
In six ways the monks, thus served as the upper quarter, show their love for him:
a) They keep him back from evil.
b) They encourage him to do good.
c) They feel for him with kindly thoughts.
d) They teach him what he has not heard before.
e) They correct and clarify what he has learnt.
f) They show him the way to heaven.
ผูปฏิบัติดังกลาวนี้ชื่อวา ปกปกรักษาทั่วทุกทิศใหเปนแดนเกษมสุขปลอดภัย
